Colt Capperrune's Dark River Studios

Mix Engineer Colt Capperrune originally built Dark River Studios in 2019 and the space served him well for many years. In 2024, he decided to upgrade his studio to include a Focal 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos system that included Trio 11be LCRs, Solo6 surrounds and height channels and dual Sub12s.

Colt took this opportunity to improve the interior acoustical treatment and reached out to Haverstick Designs to assist with the renovation. Haverstick Designs worked closely with Josh Estock on proper placement of the new speaker system to meet Dolby requirements and also designed new vertical/horizontal bass traps, ceiling clouds and the addition of a rear wall bass trap with built in diffusers from Vicoustic.

While much of the work was completed by Colt and documented on his YouTube Channel (@ColtCapperrune), he had assistance from Music City Acoustics on the new ceiling clouds for the room and FabricWall who supplied the stretch fabric channel. The end result changed the way Colt trusts his room and gives him the ability to mix in Atmos for his clients
