Tucked inside Heroes Camp, a faith-based youth center with a mission to mentor fatherless boys and break generational cycles of poverty and violence, this recording studio is the latest tool in a decades-long commitment to healing, growth, and transformation through community. For over 30 years, Heroes Camp has served as a safe haven where kids can play basketball, get a fresh meal or haircut, study scripture, and now—record music in a professional-grade space built just for them.
Haverstick Designs worked with Sweetwater Integration to make this dream become a reality. A room within a room construction approach was used to isolate the studio from the rest of the facility. The room is 17.5’ x 16.75’ x 11.5’ and is outfitted with a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos system powered by Focal speakers. The studio is outfitted with a blend of digital and analog gear in order to give the kids experience with all types of recording gear. A full stretch-fabric acoustical treatment system was implemented including, soffit bass traps, a clear diffuser on the rear wall showcasing the Heroes Camp logo and a cross shape seen in the negative space of custom ceiling clouds. LED lighting is incorporated throughout to set the vibe for the kids. It truly is an escape for the kids to be able to express themselves through music at Heroes Camp.
