The Richard J. Resch Audio Production Studios at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is a state-of-the-art educational facility that spans over two buildings on campus. Haverstick Designs and Destree Architects partnered on the design of these spaces that would become a massive upgrade to UWGB’s growing music technology program.
The Studio Arts building houses an 1800 square foot studio that boasts two (2) Control Rooms, multiple isolation booths and two (2) Live Rooms with the ability to connect the Live Rooms by opening the telescoping sliding glass doors.
A short walk from the Studio Arts building is the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts which is known for Cofrin Family Hall, a 2,000-seat auditorium with excellent acoustics. Next to the auditorium are two (2) identical 21’ x 19’ mix rooms, one of which is outfitted
for Dolby Atmos surround sound. Also in this building is a fully-functional podcast studio for students to use.
Immel Construction was the general contractor who handled all of the sound isolation construction details. The interior acoustical treatment elements were installed and constructed by Simplified Acoustics including custom stretch-fabric systems, bass traps and ceiling clouds. The Flex-48 Adaptive Treatment System from Acoustical Fulfillment is utilized in one of the Live Rooms, which allows the students to tune the room depending on the given application.
