Home Theater

A great home theater isn’t defined by equipment alone - it’s the balance between technology and a high-quality acoustical environment that looks as good as it sounds. We design luxury theaters that deliver effortless dialogue clarity, powerful low-end impact, and a consistent experience across every seat.

Our approach starts with the room itself, shaping geometry, layout, and acoustics, so performance is built into the architecture from day one. Working closely with architects, AV integrators, and builders, we help create spaces that sound as refined as they look. The result is a cinematic experience that feels intentional, immersive, and unmistakably premium quality – which will be immediately recognized the moment you experience it.

SERVICES

Room Design/Speaker Positioning

High-performance theaters begin with thoughtful room design. We optimize room proportions, seating layouts, and speaker placement to ensure balanced sound, clear dialogue, and consistent coverage throughout the space. Rather than forcing technology into finished architecture, we collaborate with AV integrators early to help shape rooms that naturally support premium audio performance. Our layouts consider sightlines, listener positions, surface materials, and architectural constraints - all while integrating seamlessly with the overall design vision. By resolving these fundamentals upfront, we help eliminate compromises later in construction and ensure the AV system performs exactly as intended. The result is a theater where every seat feels intentional, and the experience remains immersive, no matter where the listener sits.

Sound Isolation Design

A truly immersive theater requires more than great sound inside the room - it also requires quiet everywhere else. We design isolation strategies that minimize sound transfer between spaces, helping to keep our theaters powerful while adjacent rooms remain calm and comfortable. Our work may include wall, floor, and ceiling assemblies, door and window detailing, and structural decoupling recommendations tailored to each project’s constraints. Whether isolating a dedicated theater or managing noise in open-concept homes, our goal is to create intentional separation without sacrificing architectural flow. Thoughtful isolation design reduces disturbances, prevents costly revisions, and delivers homes that feel carefully considered - not accidentally connected.

Acoustical Modeling and Analysis

We use advanced acoustical modeling to predict how sound will behave before construction begins. By analyzing room geometry, surface materials, and speaker layouts, we identify potential issues early and refine designs with confidence. This process allows us to optimize clarity, bass response, and reflection control while coordinating closely with architectural and AV drawings. Modeling helps transform design decisions from educated guesses into informed choices - reducing risk and improving outcomes. For our clients, this means fewer surprises during build-out and a smoother path to achieving reference-level performance. Every recommendation is grounded in data, ensuring the final space delivers the experience envisioned from the start.

Photorealistic 3D Renderings

Clear communication is essential for complex projects. Our photorealistic 3D renderings help architects, integrators, builders, and clients visualize acoustical elements long before installation. These visuals illustrate speaker placement, treatment integration, and spatial relationships in a way that technical drawings alone cannot. Renderings align expectations across teams, support client approvals, and help prevent conflicts before framing begins. By translating acoustical concepts into intuitive visuals, we make collaboration easier and decisions faster. The result is a more coordinated project - and a finished theater that looks cohesive while delivering exceptional performance.

YouTube Studio Tours

We believe great spaces deserve to be shared. Our video tours showcase completed projects and in-progress designs, offering an inside look at how acoustics, architecture, and technology come together. These videos help clients understand our process, visualize possibilities, and see real-world examples of our work in action. For project teams, they provide an accessible way to communicate design intent and highlight finished results. More than marketing tools, our tours serve as educational resources - demonstrating how thoughtful planning leads to immersive, high-end experiences. They’re another way we bring clarity to complex projects and help clients feel confident at every stage.

AIA Continuing Education Courses

Since 2018, Haverstick Designs has been a proud sponsor of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). In addition to our sponsorship, we also offer various courses to AIA members and firms discussing various aspects of architectural acoustics. These courses help architects carry basic acoustical principles into every project they work on, while also helping optimize the process of working with an Acoustical Consultant when needed. Click here to learn more about these courses, and to contact us if you are interested in setting up a session!
